[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] On the 30th, the Dementia Safety Center in Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, announced that it conducted a 'Dementia Safety Village Environment Improvement Volunteer Activity' on the 28th to create a dementia-friendly community atmosphere.
The county Dementia Safety Center is making efforts to designate dementia safety villages to improve the quality of life for dementia patients and their families and to create a dementia-friendly environment that reduces caregiving burdens.
A dementia safety village is a community village that fosters a dementia-friendly environment by building a social safety net to promote correct understanding of dementia, improve the quality of life for dementia patients and their families, and enable safe and comfortable daily living.
During the volunteer activity, Dementia Safety Center staff and dementia overcoming volunteers carried out improvements to senior centers, internal disinfection, and hygiene management to prevent COVID-19 infection so that residents could safely carry out their daily lives in the village amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the environment improvement volunteer activity, education on understanding dementia correctly and dementia prevention rules was provided to encourage practicing dementia prevention in daily life.
County Governor Shim Min said, “We will work harder in the future to improve negative perceptions of dementia in daily life, widely promote the importance of dementia prevention and management, foster a culture of volunteering and respect for the elderly, and create a community where everyone lives together.”
