Daejeon City Tightens Quarantine Measures in Busy Districts Including Euneungjeongi Street

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is tightening quarantine measures focusing on busy areas such as Euneungjeongi Street ahead of the weekend.

On the 30th, Mayor Heo Tae-jung of Daejeon City, along with Kang Yeok-uk, Chairman of the Daejeon Autonomous Police Committee, Kim Sun-young, Chief of Daejeon Jungbu Police Station, and Jo Seong-bae, Deputy Mayor of Jung-gu, conducted a focused inspection on compliance with quarantine rules at Jung-gu’s Euneungjeongi Street and the underground shopping mall.

The inspection was carried out with the purpose of checking and guiding the quarantine situation in commercial areas where crowds usually gather, as the social distancing level was raised to Level 4 for the first weekend.

Mayor Heo and others closely monitored whether quarantine rules such as limiting private gatherings to two people after 6 p.m., temperature checks, and visitor log registration were being followed in the Euneungjeongi Street area.

Previously, the city inspected quarantine conditions at various locations including Dong-gu Yongjeon-dong Complex Terminal on the 21st, Seo-gu Dunsan-dong Galleria Department Store on the 23rd, Yuseong-gu Bongmyeong-dong on the 26th, and Daedeok-gu Songchon-dong academies and sports facilities on the 28th.

Separately, the city has formed an enforcement team of about 2,000 people in cooperation with the five autonomous districts, the police agency, and the education office, conducting inspections and crackdowns daily throughout Daejeon.

In particular, the city plans to strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy on quarantine violations, applying a one-strike-out system until the end of social distancing Level 4 on the 8th of next month.

Mayor Heo said, “To quickly end Level 4 social distancing, active participation from citizens is required,” and added, “I urge everyone to comply with individual quarantine rules for the sake of themselves, their families, neighbors, and the social community.”
