[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Bando Construction announced on the 30th that it has taken measures to support the safety and morale of on-site workers amid the ongoing heatwave and the spread of COVID-19.
This is part of the ESG management practices declared earlier this year. Bando Construction provided heatwave preparedness supplies such as ice vests and sunshades to on-site workers and secured additional shaded and rest areas where workers can escape the heat. Ice machines and ice water have been increased throughout the sites, and samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), watermelon, and ice cream are being provided.
Heatstroke prevention education is conducted through site managers, and workers' health status and rest periods are regularly checked, with adjustments made to working hours and workload.
Enhanced quarantine measures due to the spread of COVID-19 are also being implemented. Workers are required to wear masks during work and observe social distancing guidelines even during breaks. Thermal imaging cameras have been installed at each site entrance to monitor personnel, and disinfection is conducted once daily.
Additionally, special bonuses and summer vacation allowances are being provided to employees exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 situation and the heat.
CEO Park Hyun-il stated, "On-site workers are facing double hardships due to the heatwave and COVID-19. We will do our utmost to improve working conditions and prevent safety accidents by exploring all available measures in accordance with safety regulations."
