[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] On the 30th, former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol visited the People Power Party headquarters and said, "I came to the party headquarters to join as a party member," adding, "It has been a month since I started politics, but I have been thinking about this for a long time. For regime change, it is only right to join the main opposition party and start fairly from the initial primary elections. By doing so, I believe the People Power Party can gain broader and more universal support from the people, which is why I decided to join today."
In response, Kwon Young-se, the People Power Party's External Cooperation Committee Chairman, said, "As someone who has known former Prosecutor General Yoon for a very long time, I have always supported and encouraged his actions and decisions, but I especially and strongly welcome and support his decision to join the party."
He continued, "When I met with former Prosecutor General Yoon last time, we talked about sharing the same political philosophy. Now, we will work together in the same party to achieve regime change, help the people in difficulty, and brighten the future of our Republic of Korea."
The official joining ceremony will be held next week. Chairman Kwon said, "Actually, today's joining ceremony is only a small-scale event. Around next week, I plan to propose to the party leader to hold a grand joining ceremony fitting the status of former Prosecutor General Yoon, with the entire leadership gathered. Today, however, we will proceed with a modest but substantial joining ceremony."
