[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 30th that it will conduct a voluntary third COVID-19 vaccination in August for approximately 320,000 workers at multi-use facilities such as restaurants and beauty salons. Employees at department stores and large supermarkets are also included among the third-dose recipients.
Park Yumi, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Citizen Health Bureau, stated during a COVID-19 briefing, "We are currently receiving lists of workers at general restaurants, department stores, and beauty businesses, where recent cluster infections have frequently occurred," adding, "We plan to sequentially add more target occupational groups."
She continued, "We are preparing vaccinations for about 319,000 people," and added, "The schedule for the third voluntary vaccination will be finalized by the end of this weekend." The third voluntary vaccination will use Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government began the first voluntary vaccination on the 13th and the second on the 26th. The first dose vaccination will continue until the 31st, and the second dose vaccination will proceed until the 14th of next month.
