[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A forum was held to explore various development plans for the redevelopment of Naehang, promoted as an old downtown project in the Incheon area.

The Incheon City Council's "Naehang Regeneration New Deal Policy Research Group" (led by Assemblyman An Byeong-bae) held a seminar on the 29th under the theme "The Necessity of Attracting Marinas for the Revitalization of Naehang Regeneration" to find the right direction for Naehang redevelopment.

At the seminar, Son Gwan-eum-bae, CEO of ACnC, a professional consulting firm specializing in marinas and port regeneration, served as the lecturer and emphasized, "Attracting marinas is necessary for effective Naehang regeneration, and through this, new value must be given to Naehang."

Also attending was Kim Seung-jin, a marine adventurer who was the first in Korea to sail around the world on a non-powered yacht, sharing stories of his global yacht voyage and various experiences including the operation status of marinas in major port cities worldwide.

Assemblyman An Byeong-bae said, "The Incheon Naehang redevelopment project is a project for the old downtown area and should be promoted as a leading model of regeneration projects in South Korea," adding, "We will seek various revitalization measures, including attracting marinas."

He added, "We will continue to gather opinions from experts and citizens to explore a desirable development direction for Incheon Naehang."

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the seminar was held via online video conference and was attended by research group members including lead Assemblyman An Byeong-bae, Kim Byung-gi, Min Kyung-seo, Park Jeong-sook, Lim Dong-joo, as well as public officials related to Naehang regeneration such as those from Incheon City’s Regeneration Content Division and Island Support Division.

Since 2019, the "Incheon Naehang Regeneration New Deal Policy Research Group" has been active in forming a public-private consultative body through ordinance enactment, collecting citizen opinions related to Naehang redevelopment, and exchanging various views on Naehang redevelopment through consultations with the city executive branch and related organizations.
