[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Coffee Bay announced on the 30th that it is accelerating the expansion of its direct management business by simultaneously opening two directly managed stores within Jeju International Airport.
According to Coffee Bay, the number of passengers using Jeju International Airport in the first half of this year was recorded at 5.91 million, an increase of 30.6% compared to the same period last year. This is due to tourists flocking to domestic travel destinations as overseas travel routes have been blocked due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Coffee Bay plans to sell a variety of menu items such as espresso, ade, juice, toast, and sandwiches for travelers at its directly managed stores within Jeju International Airport.
Located on the east side of the 3rd floor of the Jeju International Airport passenger terminal, Coffee Bay Jeju Airport Domestic Line Store No.1 offers comfortable seating and a cozy space for customers using the airport. The Jeju Airport Domestic Line Store No.2 is a take-out only store situated in the center of the passenger terminal with high foot traffic, enhancing accessibility for customers waiting to board their flights.
Coffee Bay currently operates five additional directly managed stores (Gasan Direct Store, Daejeon Station Store, Gimhae Airport Domestic Line Store, Homeplus Ganseok Store, Homeplus Songdo Store). Before introducing new menus or new operational policies, tests are conducted at directly managed stores to preemptively identify and prevent potential trial and error that may occur in actual stores. Through this system, they support the safe operation of franchise stores.
Baek Jinseong, CEO of Coffee Bay, said, “We are expanding customer contact points by operating directly managed stores in special commercial areas with high foot traffic, such as Jeju Airport, railway stations, and large supermarkets.”
