Mandatory Companies for Reemployment Support Services for 1,000 or More Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Productivity Center (Chairman An Wanki, hereinafter KPC) announced on the 30th that it will additionally recruit participating companies for the 'Reemployment Support Service Corporate Consulting Project.'
The Reemployment Support Service Corporate Consulting Project is a program that provides consulting on what and how companies should prepare to support the reemployment of workers who are about to change jobs. According to the amendment of the Elderly Employment Act in 2019, companies with 1,000 or more employees have been required since May 2020 to provide reemployment support services to involuntary retirees aged 50 or older, such as those reaching retirement age. The Productivity Center offers free consulting to companies subject to this obligation to ensure stable institutional establishment and plans to select and support a total of 450 companies this year.
Companies wishing to receive consulting can apply through the Korea Labor Foundation website by the 20th of next month. Consulting is divided into 'Basic Consulting' for system establishment and 'Professional Consulting' for improvement and reinforcement, depending on the company's situation. Selected companies will receive consulting for about three months. After forecasting the scale of the company's retirees, consulting on customized reemployment support strategies and utilization of government support systems will be provided.
Moon Jin-gu, Senior Specialist at the KPC Job Innovation Center, said, "As a professional corporate consulting institution, KPC plans to focus its accumulated consulting capabilities on this project," adding, "We hope for active interest from companies for the stable establishment of the system."
