[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] The family of a mother and daughter who suffered serious injuries after being bitten by six hunting dogs without leashes and muzzles during a walk in Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk, has posted a national petition urging strict punishment for the dog owner. The victim's family claims that the owner merely watched as the mother and daughter bled from the dog bites.
On the 29th, a petition titled "Please strictly punish the dog bite incident in Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk (3 Greyhounds, 3 mixed breed dogs)" was posted on the Blue House national petition board.
The petitioner, Mr. A, who identified himself as a family member of the victim attacked by six hunting dogs in Mungyeong, stated, "The perpetrator claimed to have stopped the attacking dogs, but according to my sister, who was directly involved in the incident, this is not true," and appealed, "The dog owner never tried to stop them."
According to Mungyeong Police Station, the mother (67) and daughter (42), family members of the petitioner, were attacked by six dogs?Greyhounds and mixed breeds?on their usual walking trail. The police have booked the dog owner, Mr. B (66), on charges of gross negligence causing injury and are investigating the circumstances of the incident. Additionally, Mungyeong City held Mr. B responsible for management and imposed a fine of 200,000 KRW per dog, totaling 1,200,000 KRW.
Mr. A wrote, "My sister, who was ahead, was the first to be attacked; she was dragged from the riverbank toward the riverbed, bitten so severely on her head and face that her skull was visible, and sustained injuries all over her arms and legs." He continued, "Then the dogs charged at my mother, who suffered scalp avulsion and was bitten all over her neck and body, causing her to collapse."
He also mentioned, "For some reason, the perpetrator loaded my fallen mother onto his cultivator and moved about 400 meters, where the hunting dogs attacked her again, dragging her to the ground, resulting in a fractured leg and cerebral hemorrhage," adding, "While my sister was bleeding from the dog attacks, the perpetrator took no action until she called 119 herself."
Mr. A asserted, "This case is not just negligence causing injury; it is clearly attempted murder."
Earlier, during the police investigation, Mr. B stated, "One dog suddenly charged, and the others began attacking together. I immediately got off the cultivator to stop the dogs, but it was beyond my control." He also claimed that it was late at night with few people around and that he had always walked the dogs this way.
