[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province is helping foreign residents who have difficulty communicating in Korean to adapt to Korean society.

The province announced on the 30th that it is promoting the "Foreign Resident Korean Language Education Support Project" in cooperation with 22 institutions within the province, including foreigner welfare centers.

The province operates free customized education courses by level, such as basic, beginner, intermediate, and advanced, divided into daytime classes, evening classes for workers, and TOPIK classes that help with nationality acquisition.

In particular, instructors are selected who hold Korean language education-related certificates, majored in related fields, or have more than one year of experience teaching Korean to foreigners.

Additionally, in the first half of this year, the province provided Korean language education support to 16,440 people through online lectures and other methods.

A provincial official said, "We hope that Korean language classes will help overcome communication difficulties," and added, "Please contact participating institutions such as Suwon City Foreigner Welfare Center or Ansan Foreign Resident Support Headquarters for inquiries."
