Lee Jae-myung Embarks on First Nationwide 1200km Tour Following Presidential Candidacy Declaration

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, is set to embark on his first nationwide tour since declaring his candidacy for the Democratic Party presidential primary.

Lee’s official campaign, Open Camp, announced on the 29th that starting from the 30th of this month until the 2nd of next month, Lee will begin his nationwide tour covering approximately 1,200 km in a U-shaped route, starting with Daegu and Ulsan, followed by Busan and Changwon, Jeonju and Jeonbuk, and then Daejeon and the Chungcheong region. The Jeonnam and Gwangju areas are excluded from this tour as Lee had already visited them after declaring his presidential primary candidacy.

On the first day of the tour, Lee will visit the '2.28 Democracy Movement Memorial Tower' located in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. He will then visit the 'Former Residence of Martyr Jeon Tae-il' in Namsan-dong, Daegu, and the 'Ulsan Labor History Museum 1987.' Open Camp stated that through this visit, Lee will reaffirm his strong commitment to creating a world where labor is respected.

On the second day, Lee will move to Busan’s North Port, the site of the '2030 Busan World Expo.' He plans to deliver a message actively supporting the redevelopment of the North Port and the successful hosting of the Expo.

In the afternoon, he will hold a meeting with small business owners, self-employed individuals, and franchise owners in Busan to hear firsthand about the local economy. He will also visit the Gadeokdo New Airport Observatory to review the progress of the new airport construction. Afterwards, he will travel to Changwon to hold a discussion with young people from the Gyeongnam region, communicating on regional issues including the 'Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Mega City.' Busan and Gyeongnam will have the most extensive schedule during Lee’s nationwide tour.

On the third day of the tour, the 1st of next month, Lee will visit the 'Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency' located in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju. There, he plans to emphasize the importance of fostering the new materials industry for South Korea to advance as a developed country and express his commitment to innovation in carbon technology and the development of the materials, parts, and equipment industry. He will then move to Chungnam and conclude the day by visiting the 'Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall' in Deoksan-myeon, Yesan-gun.

On the final day, the 2nd of next month, Lee will carry out his official provincial government schedule alongside the tour.

Scheduled activities for the day include ▲a visit to the KAIST Semiconductor Research Institute ▲a policy agreement ceremony for joint development between Gyeonggi Province and Daejeon Metropolitan City ▲a visit to the LG Energy Solution Technology Research Institute.

An Open Camp official stated, "Considering the COVID-19 situation and minimizing any gaps in provincial administration, the first nationwide tour was scheduled over the weekend. We expect this to be an opportunity to communicate with residents from diverse regions including Daegu, Ulsan, Busan, Jeonbuk, and Chungcheong."
