417 COVID-19 Cases in Seoul by 6 PM... 3 More Than Previous Day On the 29th, citizens lined up to get tested for COVID-19 at the screening clinic of Mapo-gu Public Health Center in Seoul. [Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Jo] The Seoul city government announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was tentatively counted at 417 from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 29th, a period of 18 hours. Compared to the same time frame, this is 3 more than the 414 cases on the previous day (28th) and 27 fewer than the 444 cases last Thursday (22nd). The total number of cases for the entire day was 515 on the 28th and 520 on the 22nd.


The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul rose to the 300s at the end of last month and surged to the 500s this month, breaking records twice with 583 cases on the 6th and 638 cases on the 13th. On the 20th, the spread continued with the second highest ever number of 604 cases. Recently, the weekly average daily confirmed cases in Seoul increased from 468.7 in the 28th week of this year (July 4?10) to 518.7 in the 29th week (July 11?17), then slightly decreased to 484.3 in the 30th week (July 18?24), but the spread has not clearly subsided.


As of this time, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul was tentatively counted at 63,813. Among them, 7,724 are under isolation treatment, and 55,557 have been declared recovered and released from isolation. There were no newly identified deaths among Seoul cases in the recent 18 hours, maintaining the cumulative total at 532. The total number of confirmed cases for the entire day will be compiled as of midnight on the 30th and announced in the morning.
