Completion Ceremony to Be Held on the 2nd of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Regional Humanities Center of the Chosun University Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Team announced on the 29th that it has successfully concluded the "1st CU Climate Crisis Academy" and will hold a completion ceremony on the 2nd of next month.
The Climate Crisis Academy was held over a long period of 15 weeks starting from April 26 to accurately understand the current status of the climate crisis, the most serious environmental disaster facing humanity today, and to seek response measures.
The course, conducted for Chosun University undergraduate and graduate students as well as the general public, consisted of a total of 15 lectures and was delivered in a blended format combining face-to-face and online sessions.
Among the 53 applicants who registered for the course, 45 who completed all 15 lectures will be awarded certificates of completion.
One group that achieved the best results in video and reading assignment group presentations will be awarded the first prize, the "Climate Action Award." Two groups that effectively demonstrated the seriousness of the climate crisis will receive the second prize, the "Green Award," and three groups that highlighted practical tasks related to the climate crisis will be given the third prize, the "Ttasun Award."
The final special lecture, held together with the completion ceremony, will be delivered by National Assembly member Kim Seonghwan, who is leading climate crisis response and Green New Deal policies, under the theme "2050 Carbon Neutrality and the Great Transformation of Civilization."
This special lecture will cover the recognition of the climate crisis emergency, the significance of setting the 2050 carbon neutrality goal, and detailed Green New Deal policies to implement it.
Kang Heesook, head of the Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Team, said, "To properly respond to the climate crisis, which is a global disaster, it is necessary to seek concrete practical measures linked between local communities and universities. We will continue to propose and find practical measures that can be done within the university," adding, "For this purpose, we plan to open the '2nd CU Climate Crisis Academy' again after mid-October."
