[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A man in his 30s, a high school teacher, was arrested for installing cameras in dormitories and restrooms to illegally film.
According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on the 29th, teacher A was arrested on the 28th on charges of producing videos by installing cameras in girls' dormitories and female staff restrooms at two schools where he worked (production of child and youth sexual exploitation materials under the Youth Protection Act and filming using cameras under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act).
After the police conducted a search of A's residence and performed digital forensics on his mobile phone and PC, it was found that 669 illegal recordings had been made. The number of victims was identified as 116. It is reported that A did not distribute the illegal recordings.
Earlier, the school where A was employed discovered a camera in the restroom in April and reported it to the police. The police identified A as a suspect and conducted an investigation without detention. The police plan to send A to the prosecution next week.
