[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it will strengthen disinfection and sterilization in urban areas and recreational sites to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) within the region and to alleviate the anxiety of residents.

For this disinfection effort, a total of 2 health center disinfection teams with 3 squads and 10 township disinfection squads will be mobilized to intensify sterilization activities in major urban areas and recreational sites to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

So far, in order to respond quickly to COVID-19 and block vector-borne infectious diseases, disinfection activities have been conducted combining insecticide spraying and sterilization of confirmed patients' movement paths in major multi-use facilities.

In particular, places where many people gather such as Hamyang Intercity Bus Terminal, Jirisan Hamyang Expressway, and Dongmun Intersection have been disinfected daily with COVID-19 sterilization, and on the 28th, a comprehensive disinfection operation was completed at government offices frequently visited by residents, including the county office and township offices.

Additionally, with the summer vacation season approaching, the county plans to strengthen disinfection activities at major recreational sites to block COVID-19 inflow, and through the Korea Foodservice Industry Association county branch, distribute 2,000 spray-type disinfectants and hand sanitizers to restaurants in the area.

The director of Hamyang County Health Center urged, “For effective COVID-19 response, it is necessary to frequently disinfect objects that are often touched, and thoroughly follow personal quarantine rules such as disinfecting and ventilating your home and workplace, and wearing masks.”
