Civil Complaints Division and 11 Eup-Myeon Offices... Ongoing Expansion Planned
Full Opening of 219 Indoor and Outdoor Locations... Designated Managers for Quarantine Rules
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it will operate public offices as heatwave shelters to prevent heat-related safety accidents caused by the continuous heatwave.
The expanded public office heatwave shelters include the Sancheong-gun Office Civil Affairs Division and 11 eup/myeon offices.
According to the county, there are currently 219 heatwave shelters operating in the area, including 201 indoor locations and 18 outdoor locations.
In addition to providing supplies for compliance with quarantine rules such as visitor list creation and fever checks, each shelter has a designated manager who conducts ventilation every two hours and maintains safe distancing.
The operating hours of the heatwave shelters are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, including holidays. Anyone can use them, but the 219 heatwave shelters at senior centers can be used only after 14 days have passed since the final COVID-19 vaccination.
Heat illness prevention activities targeting vulnerable residents such as the elderly and outdoor workers will also be strengthened.
A county official said, “The operation of heatwave shelters for residents will soon include local financial institutions participating in holiday operations,” adding, “Although it is a difficult situation due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), we will do our best to help local residents have a healthy summer.”
