Yeonggwang-gun Accepts Applications for 'Clean Livestock Farms' Until the 31st of Next Month

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 29th that it plans to intensively accept applications for one month from the 2nd to the 31st of next month, aiming to designate 100 “Clean Livestock Farms” this year.

The “Clean Livestock Farm” system operated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs refers to excellent farms that practice compliance with livestock breeding density, proper treatment of livestock manure, farm landscaping, and reduction of farm odor. Farms wishing to be designated must fill out and submit an application form available at the respective eup/myeon offices.

For applicant farms, document screening and on-site visits by the Livestock Environment Management Institute will be conducted to evaluate 13 items including breeding density, installation of disinfection facilities, cleanliness of livestock barns, occurrence of odor, and farm landscaping status. Farms scoring 70 points or more out of 100 will be designated as Clean Livestock Farms.

Designated farms will receive a farm signboard and benefits such as priority eligibility and increased project volume incentives when applying for various livestock subsidy projects, including livestock manure treatment support projects.

Jung Hoideok, head of the Horticulture and Livestock Division, said, “Creating clean livestock farms is essential for sustainable livestock farming that can coexist with local residents,” and added, “We ask livestock farmers to actively apply to continuously receive designation to improve the image of livestock farming.”

Meanwhile, the number of newly designated clean livestock farms in the jurisdiction this year is 42 farms, and the total designated farms (cumulative) is 67 farms.
