Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts 'Streetlight Suspension Device Special Maintenance'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 29th that it conducted a "special maintenance of streetlight banners" to create a clean and safe urban environment.

Banners are vertical advertisements hung on streetlights, and when left unattended after the installation period expires, they not only spoil the cityscape but also cause inconvenience to vehicle traffic and pedestrian movement.

Since last month, Seo-gu deployed a total of 15 people in 5 teams to request advertisers and advertising companies to voluntarily remove banners installed without notification, and on the 27th, about 150 banners past the voluntary removal deadline were taken down.

Streetlight banners can be installed for up to 30 days in compliance with standards after reporting to the relevant district office and paying the fee.

Based on the maintenance results, Seo-gu plans to take administrative actions such as guidance and fines against illegal banners that do not comply with installation standards.

A Seo-gu official said, "Banners that have been left unattended for a long time or installed illegally can pose threats to cars on the road and citizens," adding, "We ask advertisers to cooperate so that a proper advertising culture can be established by complying with regulations."

Meanwhile, Seo-gu operates a crackdown team 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays, to eliminate illegal advertisements such as banners.
