[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] SK Hynix announced on the 29th that it has donated 500 million KRW to the 'Good Wind·Hope Warmth' campaign organized by the Comprehensive Support Center for Elderly Living Alone.
This campaign, which started in 2011, aims to improve the poor living conditions of elderly people living alone who are vulnerable to heatwaves and cold waves by providing cooling and heating supplies to recipients of elderly customized care services. SK Hynix has been participating in the campaign since 2018.
The donation ceremony was held via video conference yesterday afternoon. The cooling supplies (window air conditioners and circulators) totaling 1,500 units and heating supplies (heated mats) totaling 500 units purchased with the donation will be primarily provided to the areas of Icheon and Cheongju, where SK Hynix business sites are located, as well as Yongin, Anseong, and Gwangju, which are surrounding areas where the Yongin semiconductor cluster will be established.

Kim Hyunmi, Director of the Comprehensive Support Center for Elderly Living Alone, said, "Recently, due to abnormal weather and the rapid resurgence of COVID-19, the elderly are experiencing double hardships. Vulnerable elderly people are more susceptible to seasonal diseases caused by heatwaves and cold waves than any other generation." She added, "Through the delivery of cooling and heating supplies this time, we hope that elderly people in blind spots of care can spend their time safely and healthily."
Park Yonggeun, Vice President of CR Strategy at SK Hynix, said, "We hope that vulnerable elderly people who are going through difficult times due to extreme heat in summer and severe cold in winter can live healthily and safely." He added, "We will continue our social contribution activities to support vulnerable groups in the local community."
