KODEX New ETF Listings Including Webtoons and Dramas

[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] Samsung Asset Management listed new ETFs on the 29th, including KODEX Fn Webtoon & Drama, KODEX Fn System Semiconductor, and KODEX Fn Top10 Equal Weight ETFs.

The KODEX Fn Webtoon & Drama ETF is the first ETF in Korea to invest in representative companies in the webtoon and drama industries. It invests in the webtoon and drama markets within K-content. Investment targets include webtoon-related companies such as Naver and Kakao, as well as drama-related companies like CJ ENM and Studio Dragon.

The KODEX Fn System Semiconductor ETF invests in domestic companies related to system semiconductors. The system semiconductor market is expected to grow steadily due to the government’s innovative growth BIG3 new industry policies (system semiconductors, future cars, bio-health), as well as commercialization of IoT, autonomous vehicles, and various smart devices. KODEX Fn System Semiconductor invests in 20 to 30 domestic system semiconductor-related companies, including Samsung Electronics, Hansol Chemical, L&F, and Wonik IPS.

The KODEX Fn Top10 Equal Weight ETF invests equally in the top 10 stocks by market capitalization in the domestic stock market. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the domestic stock market has seen a high growth rate in large-cap stocks due to increased interest in untact, batteries, and healthcare sectors. In particular, the preference for blue-chip stocks among rapidly increasing individual investors has intensified the concentration on large-cap stocks, with the market capitalization share of the KOSPI Top 10 reaching 43.6% as of the end of June. The KODEX Fn Top10 Equal Weight ETF consists of the top 10 domestic companies by market capitalization, including Kakao, a representative untact stock, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Mobis, and SK Biopharm.

Samsung Asset Management is also holding events for investors trading these newly launched ETFs. KB Securities will run an event from August 30 to September 10, and Daishin Securities will hold an event from September 9 to September 17. Cultural gift certificates will be awarded based on daily trading volume, and detailed information can be found on each securities firm's website.
