Suwon Changhyeon High School and Yushin High School's Yushin Academy Switches to Full-Time Board of Directors System After 4 Years

Suwon Changhyeon High School and Yushin High School's Yushin Academy Switches to Full-Time Board of Directors System After 4 Years

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] 'Yushin Academy' located in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, has transitioned to a full board of directors system after four years.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced that with the completion of the appointment of full directors for the Yushin Academy school corporation on the 29th, the corporation's management, which had been under a temporary board system for the past four years, has now shifted to a full board of directors system.

Following a 2016 audit by the Gyeonggi Office of Education, Yushin Academy received cancellation orders for the appointments of 11 former and current executives (9 directors and 2 auditors) due to improper teacher appointments, failure to hold board meetings, falsification of board meeting minutes, and violations of executive appointment procedures.

In response, since May 2017, the Gyeonggi Office of Education dispatched temporary directors to Yushin Academy for four years to establish an operational plan reflecting the opinions of internal members, conclude all lawsuits with the previous corporation, and promote normalization of the school corporation.

To normalize the corporation's management, the Gyeonggi Office of Education requested a review of the Yushin Academy normalization promotion plan by the Private School Dispute Mediation Committee in April. Following the committee's resolution, the process of recommending candidates for full directors to normalize the corporation's management was carried out.

As a result, among 26 full director candidates recommended by the former and current directors' consultative body, school operation committees (Yushin High School and Changhyeon High School), the open director recommendation committee, and the Gyeonggi Office of Education, a final 12 were appointed as full directors, completing the normalization of the corporation's management.

Kim Yong-ho, head of the School Support Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, emphasized, "The appointment of full directors for Yushin Academy was made by actively reflecting the diverse opinions of internal members. The Office of Education will carefully support the school corporation to operate transparently and fairly while complying with the Private School Act."

Yushin Academy, established in 1972, operates Suwon Yushin High School (39 classes) and Changhyeon High School (42 classes).
