[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A prank that involved pushing coworkers into a lake resulted in one person’s death.
According to the police on the 28th, at around 10:20 a.m. on the 24th, A, a man in his 30s and the owner of a health club in Daegu, playfully pushed his coworkers, a man in his 20s, B, and a woman in her 20s, C, into Hapcheon Lake in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam.
C managed to swim to shore on her own, but B struggled and sank underwater.
Employees at the water recreation facility saw this and jumped into the lake, but due to poor underwater visibility, they were unable to locate B.
A and seven other colleagues from the health club in Daegu, including trainers, were playing in the water together at the time.
Firefighters who responded to the report conducted a search for about an hour and found B, but he was deceased.
During the police investigation, A stated that he pushed B into the water as a joke and believed that B was pretending to struggle because he could not swim.
The police stated, “A has been booked without detention on charges of negligent homicide, and the exact cause of the accident is under investigation.”
