[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] A man in his 30s who visited a pension in Sangju, Gyeongbuk, broke into a nearby pension and sexually assaulted a woman, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Sangju Police Station in Gyeongbuk announced on the 28th that they have booked a man in his 30s, Mr. A, on charges including sexual assault and are investigating the case.
Mr. A is accused of entering the room of Ms. B (a woman in her 20s) who was staying in a different room at a pension in Sangju around 5 a.m. on the 25th and sexually assaulting her.
At the time, the police responded to Ms. B’s report, but Mr. A had already fled. The police then tracked Mr. A using nearby CCTV footage and vehicle black box videos, and apprehended him around 2 p.m. that day.
On the 26th, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, but the court dismissed the warrant citing “a fixed residence and no flight risk.” It is reported that Mr. A returned to his home in Seoul.
