[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] It has been reported that the defense team of Professor Jeong Kyung-shim of Dongyang University, who was indicted on charges including admission fraud involving her child, submitted a written opinion to the court stating that "the testimony of the daughter’s friend regarding attendance at the Seoul National University Public Interest and Human Rights Law Center seminar has changed."

According to the legal community on the 28th, Jeong’s lawyer submitted a written opinion on the 26th to the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 1-2 (Presiding Judges Eom Sang-pil, Shim Dam, and Lee Seung-ryeon) stating that Jeong’s daughter, Cho Min, did attend the seminar hosted by Seoul National University in May 2009.

Previously, Jang, a classmate from the study abroad class at Han Young Foreign Language High School who attended with Cho, stated on SNS on the 25th, "The bespectacled female student captured on video at the seminar is indeed Cho Min." The opinion submitted by Jeong’s side contains this statement.

Meanwhile, the first trial court last year did not accept the defense’s claim that Cho attended the seminar. Jang’s testimony denying Cho’s attendance was considered valid. Accordingly, the second trial court is expected to comprehensively examine not only whether Cho attended the seminar but also other circumstances such as the actual activities during the fifteen days stated on the internship confirmation letter.
