Seoul Agricultural Technology Center Designated as 'Healing Agriculture Specialist Training Institution'... Selection of Trainees

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 29th that the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center has been designated as a training institution for 'Healing Agriculture Specialists,' experts in the field of healing agriculture. It has become the first institution nationwide capable of both establishing a healing agriculture center and training healing agriculture specialists.

Healing agriculture refers to all agricultural activities provided to restore mental and physical health by utilizing agricultural materials and resources. Healing agriculture specialists develop and manage these healing agriculture programs, as well as perform professional tasks such as educating personnel in the healing field and operating healing agriculture facilities.

Since 2021, the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center has been establishing a healing agriculture center to systematically support the healing agriculture industry. They plan to create models such as the 'Future Agriculture-type Healing Farm' utilizing digital agricultural technology, the 'Facility-type Healing Farm' applicable to relatively small rooftop and other leftover spaces, and the 'Farm-type Healing Farm' that can be established in cultivated land or garden farms by utilizing existing facilities. After improvements and supplements, they plan to distribute and foster urban healing farms within Seoul to secure a healing agriculture foundation.

The Level 2 Healing Agriculture Specialist training will be announced on the Agricultural Technology Center website from the 28th until the 4th of next month, and applications will be accepted through the Seoul Public Service Reservation website. The selection of trainees will be conducted by randomly drawing 30 people between August 5th and 10th. The training will be held for a total of 142 hours from August 18th to October 15th. Trainees who participate in more than 80% of the course and achieve the required score on the completion exam will be awarded a certificate.

To obtain the Level 2 Healing Agriculture Specialist qualification, apart from completing the training, candidates must pass the Healing Agriculture Specialist qualification exam administered by the Rural Development Administration after completing the training operated by the healing agriculture specialist training institution.

Cho Sang-tae, Director of the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Just as the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center was the first in the nation to start and spread urban agriculture, we will play a leading role in the development and establishment of healing agriculture by training specialized personnel and creating dedicated spaces to provide higher-quality healing agriculture services to Seoul citizens, thereby improving their quality of life."
