'Asymptomatic' Close Contact Tests Positive

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seung-hyun Jeong] On the 28th, Mokpo City in Jeonnam announced that the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased to 161 with 3 additional confirmed cases.

The new confirmed cases are number 159, a man in his 30s; number 160, a woman in her 20s; and number 161, a man in his 20s.

Number 159 was classified as a close contact and tested positive after a diagnostic test conducted the previous day.

Number 160 was confirmed positive during a second test while in self-quarantine after returning from overseas, and number 161 tested positive after a diagnostic test.

Numbers 159 and 160 were transferred to Mokpo City Medical Center, and number 161 was transferred to the Jeonnam Living Treatment Center.

In particular, as asymptomatic close contacts tested positive, a warning was issued regarding the outdoor activities of Mokpo citizens.

Accordingly, the city conducted COVID-19 tests on close contacts through a full investigation on the morning of the same day.

The quarantine authorities are conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation into the movement paths and contacts of the confirmed cases.
