[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The International Olympic Committee (IOC) initially depicted the Crimean Peninsula as Russian territory on the Tokyo Olympics website, but promptly corrected it following protests from Ukraine. However, it has been revealed that the IOC is remaining passive regarding the Dokdo issue.

Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University announced on the 28th that he sent protest emails to IOC President Thomas Bach, all IOC members worldwide, and honorary IOC members including former President Jacques Rogge.

Previously, the IOC stated regarding the Tokyo Olympics website's recent depiction of the Crimean Peninsula as Russian territory that "it was an error by the service provider, and the content was corrected immediately upon recognition along with an apology."

In his protest email, Professor Seo pointed out, "The IOC continues to evade responsibility regarding the depiction of Dokdo as Japanese territory on the torch relay route map on the Tokyo Olympics website, which is a double standard."

When South Korea strongly demanded correction at the time, the IOC only repeated Japan's response that "the depiction of Dokdo is purely a geographical expression," based on inquiries made to the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee.

Professor Seo stated, "This is evidence that the IOC is bowing to Japan's influence," emphasizing, "The IOC, as an international organization that must be impartial, should never engage in biased actions." He further demanded, "Delete Japan's depiction of Dokdo as soon as possible."
