Crackdown on Fraudulent Claims of Subsidies, Grants, and Compensation Payments
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gangwon Province Audit Committee announced on the 28th that it has established the "Public Finance Fraud Reporting Center" to prevent leakage of public funds and will operate the reporting period for fraudulent claims on various public finances, including subsidies, throughout the year.
The province supports public finance payments totaling 4.0896 trillion KRW across 1,563 projects in various fields such as welfare, agriculture and forestry, culture, and economy, in the form of subsidies, grants, and compensation.
With the establishment of the reporting center, fraudulent claims can be reported year-round, and reports can be submitted through the fraud reporting channel opened on the Audit Committee’s website, as well as by visiting in person or by mail.
Submitting false or excessive claims for public finance payments or using them for purposes other than intended falls under the scope of fraudulent claim reports.
The Audit Committee also designated a dedicated team for the public finance recovery system to review the appropriateness of sanctions against fraudulent claims and pledged to make efforts to change awareness to eradicate subsidy fraud.
