Lee Jae-myung's 'Gyeonggi-do Style Baedal Teukgeup' Surpasses 40 Billion Won in 8 Months

Lee Jae-myung's 'Gyeonggi-do Style Baedal Teukgeup' Surpasses 40 Billion Won in 8 Months

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The total cumulative transaction amount of Gyeonggi Province's public delivery app 'Baedal Teukgeup' has surpassed 40 billion KRW just eight months after its launch. It has only been a month since it exceeded 30 billion KRW.

Baedal Teukgeup was promoted with the strong will of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung to induce fair competition in the domestic delivery app market, which is practically monopolized by apps like Baedal Minjok, and to support small business owners struggling with excessive fees and advertising costs.

In particular, Baedal Teukgeup attracted attention as the nation's first digital platform project promoted through public-private cooperation and as a Gyeonggi Province-type Digital New Deal project.

Gyeonggi Province Corporation announced on the 28th that as of the 27th of this month, Baedal Teukgeup's cumulative transaction amount has exceeded 40 billion KRW. Launched on December 1 last year, Baedal Teukgeup surpassed 10 billion KRW in February this year. It then exceeded 20 billion KRW on May 14, 30 billion KRW on June 28, and surpassed 40 billion KRW within a month.

The sharp increase in Baedal Teukgeup's transaction amount is attributed to consumer benefits specialized for local governments through regionally focused projects and steady discounts linked to local currencies.

Additionally, the continuous expansion of service areas has greatly contributed to acquiring new members. Currently, Baedal Teukgeup operates in 22 municipalities within the province. It plans to expand to 30 cities and counties within the province by the end of this year.

Moreover, the consumption support funds provided to residents last month were widely used on Baedal Teukgeup, leading to the first daily transaction amount exceeding 400 million KRW.

Starting this month, Baedal Teukgeup will also begin a pilot project for reusable containers in the Dongtan area of Hwaseong City in cooperation with Gyeonggi Province.

In the future, Baedal Teukgeup plans to strengthen its branding as a 'win-win platform' by forming a consensus on value consumption with more consumers and small business owners and through various projects such as reusable containers.

Lee Seok-hoon, CEO of Gyeonggi Province Corporation, said, "The steady growth of Baedal Teukgeup was possible thanks to the support of consumers, franchise owners, Gyeonggi Province, and various local governments," adding, "With the expansion of service areas and service improvements this year, it will become an even more beloved public platform."

Baedal Teukgeup will start service in Gunpo City from the 29th. Accordingly, the number of Baedal Teukgeup service areas within the province will increase to 23.
