Gwangju Shinsegae Donates 10 Million Won to Support Vulnerable Groups for a Cool Summer

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) announced on the 27th that it donated 10 million won to support the elderly vulnerable groups in having a cool summer.

The donation was raised through a support bazaar for the elderly vulnerable groups held throughout this month at the first-floor event hall of Gwangju Shinsegae.

The delivery ceremony was attended by Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, Kim Tae-il, Head of Social Contribution Cooperation Division at Korea Food for the Hungry International Seoul Headquarters, Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, and Oh Byung-sang, Deputy Director of Korea Food for the Hungry International, among others.

Based on recommendations within Seo-gu, about 70 households most in need will be provided with safety kits including Samgyetang, ramen, droplet masks, and hand sanitizers.

Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “Due to the continuous heatwave combined with COVID-19, this period is more than twice as difficult compared to other years,” and added, “We hope that the marginalized elderly will not suffer any damage from the heatwave.”

Meanwhile, since last year, Gwangju Shinsegae has been actively engaged in social contribution activities such as supporting emergency relief supplies costs through the Gwangju Youth Center, providing play kit costs for children in vulnerable families, supporting treatment costs for pediatric cancer patients, and this year, supporting families with disabilities, children who are victims of abuse, and firefighters.
