Woori Financial Group Awards 670 Million KRW in Scholarships to 500 Children of Multicultural Families and Small Business Owners

After the foundation's establishment, a total of 4.5 billion KRW was delivered to over 4,700 people

Woori Financial Group Awards 670 Million KRW in Scholarships to 500 Children of Multicultural Families and Small Business Owners Son Tae-seung, Chairman of the Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation, delivered the Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation scholarships online on the 27th at the Woori Financial Group headquarters located in Jung-gu, Seoul.


[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] Woori Financial Group's Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation announced on the 27th that it will provide a total of 670 million KRW in scholarships to 500 children of multicultural families and children of small business owners affected by COVID-19.


The scholarship award ceremony held that day was conducted online in a non-face-to-face manner to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Son Tae-seung, Chairman of the Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation, and 23 student representatives participated online. There was also a congratulatory performance through a video by the Woori Multicultural Children's Choir and a time for communication between Chairman Son Tae-seung and the representative scholarship students.


This year, scholarships totaling 670 million KRW will be provided to 500 recipients, including 400 multicultural children from 36 countries who are academic and talent scholarship students, and 100 children of small business owners struggling due to COVID-19. The scholarships will be used according to the needs of the scholarship students, such as tuition fees, textbook purchases, and costs to develop their talents and skills.


Chairman Son Tae-seung said, "I am very pleased to select talented individuals who are striving to achieve their dreams as scholarship students," and added, "The Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation will always support closely and will continue to provide ongoing support in the future."


Meanwhile, the Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation is a public interest foundation established in 2012 with 20 billion KRW contributed by Woori Bank and other Woori Financial Group affiliates. Over the past 10 years since its establishment, it has provided a total of 4.5 billion KRW in scholarships to approximately 4,700 recipients through 13 rounds.
