[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A petition has sparked public outrage after claiming that a social worker wife was repeatedly sexually assaulted by the head of a welfare center and even attempted an extreme act.
On the 22nd, a petition titled "My wife was raped by her workplace superior" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.
The author, Mr. A, who introduced himself as the husband of the social worker, stated, "Since April, my wife has been repeatedly sexually assaulted by Mr. B, the head of the elderly welfare center," and claimed, "Mr. B is the center director and the son of the director, who used his authority as the representative to exert power."
Mr. A said, "Because of this incident, my wife attempted an extreme act, and my three elementary school children and I were deeply shocked," adding, "I have given up my job to stay by my wife's side, and the children cry in fear of losing their mother."
He expressed anger, saying, "Because of the rotten lust of a scoundrel, our entire family has fallen into endless darkness."
Mr. A also expressed dissatisfaction with the police investigation.
He said, "I requested a public defender from the police, but I did not receive any contact for two weeks," and added, "Eventually, my wife was questioned twice without a public defender."
He also said, "Only after the investigation ended did I hear from the police that a public defender had been appointed," adding, "I was told the appointment was made several days before the questioning." He claimed, "Initial investigation is crucial in sexual crimes, but even after more than two weeks since the complaint, no investigation of the suspect has been conducted."
Finally, Mr. A urged the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which has the duty to prevent sexual violence and protect victims, to actively intervene and severely punish the welfare center and Mr. B. He also requested the Minister of Health and Welfare to permanently close the facility.
Meanwhile, Mr. B denied the charges during the police investigation, stating that "the woman contacted me first, and I also have evidence." The center distanced itself from the issue, saying, "This is a personal matter of the representative and unrelated to the facility."
