Suncheon City Council Garden Expo Special Committee Discusses Support Measures Following Enactment of Special Act


[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Suncheon City Council's '2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo Successful Hosting Support Special Committee (Chairman Kang Hyung-gu, hereinafter referred to as the Special Committee)' held a meeting on the 26th at the Suncheonman International Wetland Center within Suncheonman National Garden to discuss support measures at the Special Committee level following the enactment of the 'Special Act on Support and Post-Utilization of the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo (hereinafter the Special Act)'.


At the meeting attended by Special Committee members and related officials, the Expo Organizing Committee reported on the major progress made so far and the enactment of the Special Act.


In particular, with the Special Act passing the National Assembly plenary session on the 23rd, enabling government administrative and financial support from the preparation to post-utilization of the Expo, attention was focused on the future direction of preparing for the Expo.


During the subsequent discussion, in-depth opinions were exchanged on matters that the Special Committee could support, such as linkage plans between the Expo and surrounding projects, and regional economic revitalization through profit-making businesses.


Chairman Kang Hyung-gu stated, “The preparation for the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo has gained more momentum with the enactment of the Special Act,” and added, “The Special Committee will also prepare practical support measures for the successful preparation of the Expo.”


The City Council’s Garden Expo Special Committee consists of a total of nine members, including Chairman Kang Hyung-gu, Vice Chairman Oh Kwang-mook, and members Moon Kyu-jun, Seo Jeong-jin, Park Gye-su, Jeong Hong-jun, Lee Young-ran, Kim Mi-yeon, and Park Jae-won, and plans to continue its activities until June next year.
