"Illegal Entertainment Venues in 'Quarantine Blind Spots,' 2,000 People Caught by Police in 3 Weeks" The police are cracking down on a nightlife bar in Seocho-gu that was secretly operating by allowing entry only to customers who made reservations through a membership system.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Police conducting inspections on illegal entertainment establishments, which are considered "blind spots" in quarantine measures, have caught over 2,000 violators of quarantine rules in three weeks.


According to the National Police Agency on the 26th, from the 3rd to the 25th of this month, police deployed 10,550 officers and, in cooperation with local governments, inspected 27,398 entertainment establishments nationwide. During this process, they cracked down on 319 cases of illegal activities including violations of quarantine guidelines, involving 2,004 individuals.


By type, there were 206 cases and 1,715 people violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act such as quarantine rule violations, 17 cases and 181 people violating the Food Sanitation Act, and 96 cases and 108 people violating the Music Industry Act.


In Seoul, on the 20th at around 11 p.m., 33 people including business owners and customers were caught at an entertainment bar in Seocho-gu that had turned off its signboard lights and locked the door to secretly operate. In Daegu, on the 22nd at around midnight, 18 business owners and customers were caught operating in a similar manner at an entertainment bar in Dalseo-gu.


Also, on the 19th at around 9 p.m. in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, four people including business owners were caught by police for selling alcoholic beverages at a singing practice room and operating an unregistered employment agency known as a "Bodobang."
