[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 26th that it will hold an online performance viewing event, "Welcome K-Stage," from the 30th of this month to November 26th to promote the excellence and charm of Korean performances.

"Welcome K-Stage" is an online program of the Daehangno Performance Tourism Festival "Welcome Daehangno," which the organization has been hosting since 2017. Five popular domestic performances will be showcased on YouTube. These five performances will start at 8 p.m. Korea Standard Time on the last Friday of each month.

The event will open on the 30th with the musical "The Last Case." "The Last Case" is a work that thrillingly depicts the confrontation between Arthur Conan Doyle, the epitome of detective novels, and Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective he created. Information about the performances from August to November will be sequentially released on the official Welcome Daehangno website.

Meanwhile, to assist the target foreign audience's understanding, subtitles will be provided in four foreign languages (English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese). Each performance will include actor interviews and behind-the-scenes stories from the producers to enhance interest in viewing the performances. Additionally, using overseas branches, various events such as surveys will be conducted targeting overseas consumers with high awareness of Korean performance tourism in Taiwan, China, Japan, and other countries.

The performance videos can be viewed on the Welcome Daehangno YouTube channel and the Chinese travel platform Mafengwo. On YouTube, viewers can select English, Japanese, or Traditional Chinese subtitles. Mafengwo provides Simplified Chinese subtitles.

Kim Young-hee, head of the Hallyu Tourism Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "This is the first time that full-length domestic performance videos are being broadcast worldwide with subtitles in four languages," adding, "We hope consumers around the world can experience Korean performance tourism content, and we will strive to develop various new performance tourism products that visitors can enjoy after the normalization of COVID-19."
