[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] North Korean propaganda media criticized Japan regarding the removal incident of the 'Yi Sun-sin banner' by the Olympic team.
On the 26th, North Korean propaganda outlet Uriminzokkiri pointed out in an article titled "Shameless acts that inflame national indignation" that "The Suga faction nitpicked, claiming that the South Korean Olympic team hung an 'anti-Japan banner' in the athletes' village in Tokyo and accused them of 'conducting anti-Japan propaganda at the Olympics.'"
However, the article did not specify that the banner put up by the Korean team was modeled after a phrase by General Yi Sun-sin.
The media also criticized Japan's past actions, stating, "Not long ago, Japanese reactionaries brazenly posted a map labeling Dokdo as Japanese territory on the Tokyo Olympics-related homepage," and "On the 13th, in the so-called '2021 Defense White Paper,' they even made the baseless claim that the issue of 'Takeshima' (Dokdo), Japan's 'inherent territory,' still remains unresolved."
