"Learn AI Literature and Explore VR Art Gallery? Busan Education Office Runs 'High School Summer School'" Busan Metropolitan Office of Education.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a 'Summer School' for two weeks from July 26 to August 7 at 23 locations, including 10 high schools and 13 universities in the Busan area, to mark the summer vacation.

The program targets 814 first- and second-year students from general high schools in the Busan area and will be conducted online.

The high school summer school offers various creative convergence subjects such as inquiry, experiments and practice, discussions and debates, essay writing, and arts and physical education, which are difficult to open and operate at individual schools, providing opportunities for creativity development and career experience.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education selected and opened a total of 47 courses in various fields including science, forensic science, engineering, social studies, mathematics, arts, foreign languages, and physical education through a strict screening process.

Course operators, composed of university professors and high school teachers, select students by reviewing applicants' self-introduction letters.

During the summer school operation, student-centered classes of about 18 to 24 hours will be conducted.

As the social distancing level in Busan has been raised to level 3, all 47 courses will be conducted as non-face-to-face online classes.

Completion of the summer school activities will be recorded in the creative experiential activities section of the school life record and used as evidence for career activities.

Kwon Hyuk-je, Director of Secondary Education at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "The high school summer school is a very popular program among students as it allows them to experience classes taught by university professors in their fields of interest in advance," and added, "I believe it will be very helpful in exploring careers through experience-centered educational activities."
