Due to COVID Resurgence and Heatwave... Ediya Coffee's Delivery Sales Up 19% Photo by Ediya Coffee

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Due to the strengthening of social distancing measures amid the resurgence of COVID-19 and the continuous heatwave, the demand for coffee delivery services has surged.

Analyzing data from nationwide franchise stores for one week from the 12th to the 18th, when the 4th level of social distancing began in the metropolitan area, Ediya Coffee found that the number of delivery service orders increased by 18% compared to the previous week.

Ediya Coffee attributed the rise in delivery orders to customers avoiding going out due to the strengthened distancing measures, heatwaves exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, and repeated localized heavy rains. During the same period, delivery service sales increased by 19%, making delivery services a significant part of store revenue.

Popular delivery menu items included Ediya Coffee’s new summer products such as ‘Galaxy Chino,’ ‘Single Bingsu,’ and ‘Fresh Fruit Watermelon Juice,’ which are perfect for enjoying coolness during the hot summer season. In particular, set menus like the ‘Fresh Fruit Watermelon Juice Set,’ ‘Solo Bingsu Set,’ and ‘Refreshing Energy Set,’ which allow customers to enjoy both drinks and desserts, received great responses from delivery customers.

Meanwhile, Ediya Coffee, which was the first domestic coffee franchise to introduce delivery services in 2018 and thus secured a lead in the untact market, has seen steady growth in delivery sales since the spread of COVID-19. The delivery service, which started with about 400 stores at that time, has now expanded to approximately 2,200 stores, accounting for about 80% of all franchise stores.
