[Asia Economy Reporter Seol Gina] Professor Changho Seo of the Department of Electrical Engineering at KAIST received the 'James L. Massey Research & Teaching Award for Young Scholars,' an award given by the IEEE Information Theory Society to young scholars within 10 years of earning their PhD.
According to KAIST on the 26th, the award Professor Seo received is the only award in the research-teaching category of the Information Theory Society, and it is significant because all previous recipients have been professors at prestigious universities in the United States. This is the first time the award has been given to a professor outside of U.S. universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford.
Professor Seo is actively conducting research in the fields of information theory and artificial intelligence (AI), consistently publishing papers in renowned international conferences and journals such as NeurIPS, the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), and IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. He is currently engaged in research to develop Trustworthy AI.
Previously, Professor Seo was recognized for his contributions to course development within the university and received the 'Lim Hyungkyu Link Genesis Best Faculty Award,' the top education award given at KAIST. The course materials he developed independently as part of a joint AI curriculum development with Google are scheduled to be published as a textbook.
