Democratic Party presidential candidate Kim Du-kwan is being interviewed by Yonhap News at his office in the National Assembly Members' Office Building.
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Choyoung] Democratic Party presidential candidate Kim Doo-kwan sharply criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, a presidential candidate from the opposition, for pointing to President Moon Jae-in as the 'mastermind' behind the Druking comment manipulation case on the 25th, saying, "It has long been said that a dog that bites its master's heel has a predetermined fate."
In a post on his Facebook page that day, Kim said, "To talk about legitimacy toward the regime one belonged to is closer to an unfilial act than biting the master's heel."
He continued, "It seems Yoon is anxious as his support keeps dropping. He mentioned a thorough investigation into election fraud citing the guilty verdict of former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo (Druking case)," adding, "I thought it was former lawmaker Min Kyung-wook appearing again because of the talk about election fraud, but it seems he was referring to the president."
He went on, "It seems Yoon did not even properly read the verdict, which is his area of expertise," and pointed out, "The case related to the Sendai Consul General, who was indicted under election law, was acquitted in the second trial as well. Since the election law case was acquitted, I have no idea where the election fraud is or where he wants to find the 'mastermind.' This claim is even more absurd than Min Kyung-wook's."
Kim said, "Even if we concede that Druking's comment mischief influenced public opinion, what does that have to do with the presidential election results?" and sarcastically added, "If we think that the politically most dynamic and highly sophisticated voters in the world, South Koreans, were fooled by the comment games of a mere fraudster, even a passing cow would laugh."
Regarding People's Party leader Ahn Cheol-soo's mention of 'mastermind' and 'behind the scenes' and his call for additional prosecution investigations and joint opposition responses, Kim said, "Now even Ahn has joined in," and questioned, "Spouting nonsense does not make one more noticeable. Is it sane to say there was election fraud in an election you participated in, four years later?"
He concluded, "Election fraud in South Korea completely disappeared since 1987. The environment does not allow it, and the possibility is even less," and respectfully told candidates Yoon and Ahn, "Please contact former lawmaker Min Kyung-wook as soon as possible."
