[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will launch an intensive crackdown on illegal real estate activities starting early next month.
The province announced on the 26th that it will operate the Real Estate Transaction Order Assistants for the second half of this year from the 2nd of next month to establish a fair and transparent real estate transaction order.
The Real Estate Transaction Order Assistants are fixed-term workers who assist city and county public officials. To actively respond to illegal real estate transactions, a key provincial government task, they will perform auxiliary duties such as preventing and guiding against false real estate listings and price collusion, investigating real estate transaction reports, and investigating planned real estate projects.
Before the project, the province conducted a demand survey in 31 cities and counties last year and selected 11 target areas including Suwon, Hwaseong, Ansan, Siheung, Gwangju, Yangpyeong, Yeoju, Gwacheon, Goyang, Guri, and Pocheon, securing a project budget of 525 million KRW.
The province has already hired 23 Real Estate Transaction Order Assistants.
Hong Ji-seon, Director of the Urban Housing Office of the province, emphasized, "We will closely cooperate with the relevant cities and counties to ensure this project achieves good results," adding, "We will consider expanding the project in the future to establish a fair and transparent real estate transaction order and contribute to job creation."
Meanwhile, last year, the province hired 40 Real Estate Transaction Order Assistants who conducted 20,022 investigations into real estate transaction report contents, 3,302 cases of prevention and guidance against false real estate listings, 2,885 special investigations of suspected false real estate transaction reports, and 593 investigations into planned real estate projects.
