Gwangjin-gu 'Non-face-to-face Aerobics Class' Online Pilot Operation

From July, Anyone in the Community Can Apply Through the Gwangjin-gu Sports Club Website

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap), together with the Gwangjin-gu Sports Club (President Lee Myung-rae), will offer a free pilot operation of the ‘Non-face-to-face Aerobics Program’ starting in July for residents who have experienced reduced physical activity due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

This project was prepared to provide opportunities for physical activities to residents who found it difficult to attend in-person classes after Jayang Gymnasium was repurposed as a vaccination center to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The program is conducted via ‘online Zoom video conferencing,’ allowing instructors and participants to exercise together through PCs or smartphones while receiving real-time feedback on posture and intensity.

It takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m., and any local resident can apply through the Gwangjin-gu Sports Club website.

The program is scheduled to run until the end of November when Jayang Gymnasium returns to normal operations. During the operation period, residents’ opinions will be collected to expand the range of classes offered.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I am pleased to provide a non-face-to-face sports program to local residents whose activity levels have decreased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to prepare safe and diverse programs to promote the health of our citizens.”

Lee Myung-rae, President of the Gwangjin-gu Sports Club, said, “This project was launched to meet the demand for community sports as face-to-face classes have become difficult due to the spread of COVID-19,” and added, “We will analyze the results of this pilot operation and actively reflect residents’ opinions to provide customized non-face-to-face courses.”
