Pohang City Extends Nighttime Ban on Drinking and Eating at Beach Sand Areas... Social Distancing Level 3 from the 27th Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang City watching President Moon Jae-in's announcement of the non-metropolitan area social distancing level 3 together with officials on the 25th.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] In accordance with the government's decision to raise social distancing to Level 3 in non-metropolitan areas, Pohang City will limit the operating hours of multi-use facilities such as entertainment venues, karaoke rooms, swimming pools, and bathhouses to 10 PM starting from the 27th.


Restaurants and cafes will only be allowed takeout and delivery after 10 PM, and events or gatherings of 50 or more people are prohibited.


Additionally, administrative orders banning drinking and eating on the sand outside of opening hours at six designated beaches will be maintained until closing time, as part of efforts to fully contain the spread.


President Moon Jae-in announced at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting held at the Blue House on the 25th, "Due to the balloon effect in the metropolitan area and increased movement to vacation spots, the proportion of confirmed cases in non-metropolitan areas has exceeded 35%," and declared the raising of social distancing to Level 3 in non-metropolitan areas.


Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang City emphasized, "We ask citizens to refrain as much as possible from unnecessary outings, gatherings, visiting other regions, and traveling," and added, "Please strictly follow all quarantine rules such as wearing masks, and we ask that you spend this summer safely at home."
