Samsung Value-for-Money Phone 'Galaxy S21 FE' Not Seen at August Unpack Event

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Reports have emerged that it will be difficult to see Samsung Electronics' cost-effective (price-to-performance) smartphone 'Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE)' at the August Unpacked (new product launch) event. The release is expected to be after October.

According to industry sources on the 25th, Dutch IT specialist magazine LetsGoDigital recently reported that it had confirmed an official Samsung document stating that the Galaxy S21 FE would not be introduced at the Unpacked event.

At the beginning of the year, the model was expected to be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the second half of the year, but the release schedule was disrupted due to the ongoing semiconductor supply shortage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

However, some in the market have continued to express anticipation. Recently, IT tipster Evan Blass released rendering images of the Galaxy S21 FE along with several models expected to be unveiled at the second half Unpacked event, raising expectations.

The market is highly anticipating an October release. LetsGoDigital also predicted that the product would be unveiled around October.

The Galaxy S21 FE is attracting attention as a strategic smartphone with enhanced cost-effectiveness amid the absence of the Note series. It is expected to feature a slightly smaller 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display compared to its predecessor, the 'Galaxy S20 FE.' The application processor (AP), known as the 'brain of the smartphone,' is presumed to use Samsung's in-house developed system-on-chip (SoC), the 'Exynos 2100.'

The Galaxy Unpacked event will be held on the 11th of next month. Samsung Electronics sent official invitations containing this information to global media and partners on the 21st. New Galaxy smartphones, smartwatches, and wireless earphones are expected to be unveiled.
