[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Seven Eleven announced on the 25th that it will launch ‘Kkuljam Popcorn,’ a large-capacity popcorn snack with a pillow concept, targeting ‘home cinema족’ who enjoy dramas and movies at home, on the 28th.
Kkuljam Popcorn is more than five times larger than regular convenience store popcorn and has the largest capacity in the industry at 500g. The naming and package design were playfully created to match the home-stay trend, and it was made to resemble the actual shape and size of a pillow.
In particular, it is honey butter-flavored popcorn made using domestically produced apicultural honey and French gourmet butter, characterized by a sweet yet savory taste.
A Seven Eleven official said, “Due to social distancing, the number of people setting up and enjoying small home theaters has increased significantly, and the demand for easily accessible snacks near residential convenience stores is also rising. Reflecting this trend, we plan to continuously introduce convenience store-style movie theater concept snacks in the future.”
