Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Invests in Senior Ecosystem Platform... Expands Healthcare Services

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance has invested in a senior ecosystem platform to expand its healthcare services. This move aims to target the rapidly growing health and senior market amid the aging population trend.

According to Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance on the 24th, last month it signed an investment contract with HMC Networks, which operates the caregiver matching service platform 'CareNation.' Participating as a strategic investor, the company plans to promote mutual business cooperation in the future. In the short term, efforts will focus on growing the caregiver service platform, and in the mid to long term, it will develop healthcare services suitable for the senior ecosystem to create synergy.

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance has continuously conducted research on related industries as the scale of the health and senior industries grows steadily due to the aging population trend and customer demand for services increases.

HMC Networks is a leading startup in the caregiving industry that developed CareNation, a personalized platform connecting patients and caregivers. It is evaluated to have extensive experience and technological capabilities, having expanded from offline senior business to mobile services in caregiving. Notably, it has automated the entire process from personalized caregiver matching to payment and settlement for patients nationwide, and it is the only company in Korea accumulating data on both patients and caregivers.

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance has also proactively laid the foundation for healthcare. Its representative healthcare service, 'Anyfit,' provides comprehensive digital healthcare from understanding customers' health status to health promotion, disease prevention, and management. In November last year, 'Anyfit 2.0' was launched, expanding the original Anyfit by adding four services: osteoporosis care, health risk analysis, health checkup reservations, and mental health checks.

A Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance official said, "This investment was made possible as a result of continuous research on the senior industry closely related to the insurance business to pioneer new service areas," adding, "We will continue to strive to discover new businesses for Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance through collaboration with market-leading companies."
