[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] New COVID-19 cases originating from bathhouses and indoor exercise facilities are continuously emerging, plunging Busan into a state of 'fear.'


Although the record of new cases occurring for four consecutive days has been broken, Busan still reported triple-digit COVID-19 cases for four consecutive days.


According to Busan City on the 24th, 110 new cases were confirmed in one day, including 3 cases in the afternoon of the previous day and 107 cases by the morning of the day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 7,712.


Among the new confirmed cases, 83 were contacts of confirmed patients, 2 were overseas entrants, and 25 were cases with unknown infection sources (so-called "dark cases").


Cluster infections occurred in bathhouses, indoor exercise facilities, schools, and sporadic infections continued elsewhere.


At Bathhouse A in Dong-gu, 7 additional cases were confirmed, increasing the total related confirmed cases to 23 (19 visitors, 2 employees, 2 contacts).


At Bathhouse B in Dongnae-gu, 20 visitors and 4 family contacts were newly confirmed. So far, the total confirmed cases are 66, including 58 users, 1 employee, and 7 contacts.


At an indoor exercise facility in Suyeong-gu, 6 family members and 3 secondary contacts were newly confirmed. The cumulative confirmed cases increased to 53 (18 users, 2 employees, 33 contacts).


At a high school in Saha-gu, 1 student and 1 contact tested positive, bringing the total related confirmed cases to 44, including 17 students and 27 related contacts.


At entertainment facilities where cluster infections occurred, 5 additional contacts were confirmed. The total confirmed cases so far are 222, including 78 visitors, 41 employees, and 103 related contacts.


At a workplace in Sasang-gu, 1 employee and 1 contact tested positive. The cumulative confirmed cases at this workplace are 8 (5 employees, 5 contacts).


Currently, 984 patients are hospitalized in Busan, with 9 of them classified as severe cases.


Despite the health authorities' gathering ban measures, related confirmed cases continue to surge, leading to an extension of the gathering ban at the relevant facilities for one more week from the 26th to August 1st.


In Busan, the number of confirmed cases was 97 on the 20th, 107 on the 21st, 116 on the 22nd, 118 on the 23rd, and 110 on the 24th.


From the 20th to the 23rd, the record for the highest number of confirmed cases was broken for four consecutive days, and from the 21st, the triple-digit case count has been maintained for four consecutive days.
