Announcement of Winners for the '2021 iPhone Photography Awards'
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] At the 14th iPhone Photography Awards, works capturing moments that reveal beauty, hope, and the human spirit despite the global pandemic were selected as winners.
On the 22nd (local time), Apple announced the winners of the '2021 iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS)' in New York, USA.
The Grand Prize winner and Photographer of the Year award went to Istvan Kerekes from Hungary for his photo "Shepherds of Transylvania." The work depicts two sturdy-looking shepherds carrying a pair of lambs in their arms as they cross a harsh industrial landscape. The toughness of the two men and the bleakness of their surroundings contrasted with the hope and purity embodied by the lambs they cared for.
The Photographer of the Year first place was awarded to Sharan Shetty from India for "Bond," which captures a warm connection between a horse and its rider relying on each other as they head somewhere through an empty landscape. Second place went to Dan Liu from China for an untitled photo of an astronaut crossing a desolate landscape reminiscent of Mars, prompting reflection on humanity's relationship with outer space beyond this world. Third place was awarded to Jeff Rayner from the United States for "Air Sidewalk," which shows a girl floating weightlessly in the air, surrounded by light, above India in Los Angeles.
Additionally, awards were given for the top three in 17 categories. Winners were photographers from around the world, including Greece, the Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Mexico, the United States, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Spain, the United Kingdom, Australia, Israel, Italy, China, and Hungary.
