[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Jung Ji-taek, KBO Commissioner, issued a public apology regarding some professional baseball players' violations of quarantine guidelines.

In the apology released on the 23rd, Commissioner Jung said, "I bow my head and sincerely apologize to the public and baseball fans. Many citizens are making great sacrifices and dedicating themselves to preventing the spread of COVID-19. It is deeply regrettable that some players in the KBO League violated quarantine guidelines during this critical time."

He added, "Furthermore, professional players who should be showcasing their best performance to fans forgot their duties and violated team regulations and league quarantine rules by engaging in late-night misconduct. This led to the unfortunate situation of the season being suspended. I cannot help but feel devastated."

He also stated, "The misconduct of the players in question deserves strong criticism. Some teams also lacked proper player management. The value of the league has been greatly damaged. As the KBO Commissioner representing the KBO League, I deeply apologize."

He concluded, "Going forward, the KBO will work closely with each team to thoroughly enforce quarantine rules. We will also manage players to ensure they do not forget their responsibilities. We will take fans' criticism to heart and strive with humility to transform the league into one that can once again receive great applause."
