[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 25th that it has selected three outstanding cases in the innovative enterprise sector, including Alchera, Namu Technology, and CrowdWorks, as exemplary cases of the Digital New Deal for July.
The ‘Digital New Deal Outstanding Case of the Month’ has been implemented since last year to promote the spread of achievements of the Digital New Deal policy, which is being promoted across ministries. Each month, outstanding cases are selected and announced among companies participating in the Digital New Deal project that have excellent performance and are considered to have high public awareness and ripple effects.
The outstanding cases selected this time are three innovative companies that have achieved innovative results such as attracting investment, increasing sales, and realizing social value by providing products and services related to the Digital New Deal on the first anniversary of the Korean New Deal.
Alchera is applying and expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) video recognition technology to various fields such as smart airport construction through the ‘Data Voucher Support Project’ and the ‘AI Identification and Tracking System Construction Project’ (Ministry of Science and ICT). Through this, it became the first video recognition AI company to be listed on the KOSDAQ market in December last year and achieved innovative growth by attracting investments worth 20 billion KRW from various investors.
Namu Technology supported the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises by supplying its cloud to the ‘COVID-19 Confirmed Patient Information Analysis System Project’ (Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency) and the ‘Cloud Flagship Project’ (Ministry of Science and ICT). By converging and expanding cloud services into various industrial fields, it showed a high growth trend, recording sales of 100.1 billion KRW last year, an increase of 15.4 billion KRW compared to 84.7 billion KRW in 2019.
CrowdWorks, through the ‘AI Learning Data Construction Project’ (Ministry of Science and ICT), enabled about 20,000 workers registered on its platform to build data based on crowdsourcing, and selected excellent personnel among them to hire as inspectors directly. In particular, it is making continuous efforts to realize corporate social value through the Digital New Deal by contributing to job creation for vulnerable employment groups such as women with career interruptions and unemployed youth in connection with local communities.
Park Yoon-gyu, Director of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, “July marks the first anniversary of the Digital New Deal, and we have discovered and selected outstanding companies showing innovative growth through digital transformation.” He added, “As the main policy directions of the upcoming Digital New Deal 2.0 have been announced, we will actively strive to help our companies grow further by materializing and implementing them.”
